Done practice music video

We have finished filming and editing the practice music video. I think it turned out well and have taught me a few things, such as how to use Adobe Premiere and allowed me to reflect on things I will do differently next year when I make my real music video.

Reflection

What I've enjoyed: My expectation of what I was going to enjoy was different than it turned out to be. I really enjoyed editing the video and using Premiere because it is a very effective tool for video editing.

What I've learnt: I've learnt how to use the basic functions of Premiere and using it also allowed me to experiment and work out how to do things by myself. Also, I've learnt how to use a Canon camera for filming (as I'm used to using Nikons) which is very important for next year when I'm making my real music video.

Major challenges: I think the major challenge was to get the lighting right in the shots and to work with manual focus because every time the camera moved, it had to be changed and sometimes we forgot to do this. So next time I'll definitely pay lots of attention to getting the focus right in the shots.

Major challenges for main project: I think working on my main project next year will be much harder because it will take more time to plan and film as it will be about 3-4 minutes long. I'll also have to do the shooting outside of college meaning I will have to communicate clearly about when, how and what we're filming with the members of my group I am going to be in. So time management and communication will definitely be challenging, as well as the filming and editing.

Practice

Planning of music video shooting practice

Song we chose: Diamonds by Rihanna

Lyrics we are going to use:
So shine bright tonight, you and I
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky
Eye to eye, so alive
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
Shine bright like a diamond
We’re beautiful like diamonds in the sky

5 places within the college for shooting the clips:
- walking towards the camera in corridor in Hitchcock house
- sitting on the benches in the fields
- entrance to college (outside)
- walking through fields
- standing against the colourful brick wall
